When students lead with curiosity, everything changes

Disagree Curiously

We’re not afraid of hard conversations

The Viewpoints Project is a student-led nonprofit empowering young people to approach disagreement with curiosity. Through our college Viewpoints Fellowship, school-based consulting, and custom projects, we help students and educators build the skills to navigate hard conversations and strengthen civic culture from the ground up. We teach you to Disagree Curiously.

The Case for Curiosity

The Challenge

Too often, when we're faced with ideas that challenge us, the response is to shut down conversation—either by censoring disagreement or reacting defensively. But when we avoid difficult dialogue, we miss opportunities to grow. The result? Academic stagnation, isolated communities, and a democracy that suffers from lack of engagement.

We Believe

We believe that engaging with people and ideas we disagree with is not only valuable—it’s necessary. Every story holds more than one truth. When disagreement is approached with curiosity and care, it becomes a tool for learning and connection. By encouraging curiosity, we create space for open-mindedness and more thoughtful conversations, even when ideas are hard to hear.

We imagine campuses alive with bold, respectful debate—spaces where curiosity is the norm and every voice is treated with dignity. In this vision, disagreement isn’t something to fear—it’s something to lean into, together.
